On Friday, November 15, 2013, over 120 folks from across the Gulf Coast came together in New Orleans to participate in Alliance Institute's Affordable Care Act and Access to Health Care Along the Gulf Coast: A Symposium. We at the Alliance Institute say THANK YOU to each and every one who came out to participate.
Alliance Institute firmly believes that just as we are affected regionally by threats to our well being – whether natural or man-made – we are best served in our recovery efforts by coming together. In fact, we feel it was the bringing in of national presenters from Health and Human Services, Enroll America, Health Outreach Partners, Johnston Associates, and RFK Center for Justice & Human Rights to give the big picture that helped frame the state breakouts and afternoon outreach sessions.
Some of the feedback we have received thus far points to an appreciation for taking such a highly charged and complex issue and presenting it in a way that helped folks to gain a better understanding of the ACA, along with what and how they can effectively work with Gulf Coast communities to help folks make informed decisions regarding their access to health care.Photos from the Symposium can be viewed in our website gallery or on the Alliance Institute facebook page. If you see someone you recognize, please tag them!
Support for this event was provided by a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Support was also provided Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice & Human Rights, Johnston Associates, Nations Law Firm, and Gulf Coast Fund.
