In preparing for their series of community meetings, the Neighborhood Retail Project team at the New Orleans Business Alliance reached out Alliance Institute for assistance in designing an agenda that would honor the community, its history, and needs, while providing information to assist them in their work. The Neighborhood Retail Project team is working to attract retail businesses to New Orleans’ neighborhoods as part of the city’s overall recovery.
Following their first two community meetings using the information and techniques provided by Alliance Institute the group informed us that “Most of our staff did not have a strong background in community engagement work, but after our session, we all felt more comfortable and confident in our abilities to manage and plan future meetings. Overall, our team benefitted greatly from our session with the Alliance Institute, and we hope to engage you in the future for this project and others.”
Alliance Institute looks forward to continuing to help improve the lives of New Orleans residents by assisting them in providing their voice to the decisions regarding the future of the city.
